Gipson 2
With Gipson 2, I wanted to continue to explore the instrumental side of this artistry, blending soulful melodies, dusty textures, atmospheric production, and an overall classic hiphop backbone. Gipson 2 is really just a snapshot of my current production mindset. It’s a collection of beats, moods, and moments that I wanted to put out into the world.
Southern Glory
‘Southern Glory’ is a seven-track project that twists the term to align more with my experience of the south. Released in 2021, the album explores themes of ambition, survival, money, self-discovery, and everyday life, with tracks like “Searching for Enlightenment,” “Love Don't Pay the Bills,” “Make Cents,” and “Time Is Money” helping shape the project's foundation. I wanted the production by Ed Glorious and subject matter to work together to tell a story rather than feel like random songs thrown together. Southern Glory is ultimately a snapshot of my perspective, honest, creative, gritty, and deeply connected to the people, places, and experiences that shape me.
84.3fm Carolina Radio
84.3fm: Carolina Radio is me trying to capture the feeling of tuning into a classic southern radio station. Across 11 tracks produced by Frances, Keor Meteor, I explore themes of Southern identity, ambition, creativity, struggle, and the different highs and lows that come with the journey. Songs like “Southern Hospitality,” “Road Less Traveled,” “Are We Live?,” “Some Highs, Some Lows,” and “Tuning In” help create the feeling of moving through different stations, moods, and moments, while collaborations with SeKwence, Sleep Sinatra, Lord Juco, and Gat$ add different voices and energy to the project. I wanted 84.3fm: Carolina Radio to feel like more than just an album. It’s a broadcast from my world, representing where I come from.
Bare Man
I wanted Bare Man to highlight my work as a producer, personally producing five of the seven songs on the album. For me, that makes the project especially personal—it isn't just about the stories being told, but about building the musical world those stories live in. I played with the title Bare Man as a double meaning about baring yourself to the world, being vulnerable and honest through the music, while also becoming a “bear” in the sense of being a force when it comes to rapping and making music. The forest becomes an analogy for life itself: unpredictable, sometimes beautiful and sometimes unforgiving, with every path, obstacle, and encounter shaping the journey.
Southern Eats Series
States
States was a turning point for me. It was my first album that I fully produced. A lot of the record came from experimenting and figuring out what I wanted my sound to be. The album features Los Angeles native Cousin Feo, who I’ve continued working with over the years across a number of projects. Looking back, there’s definitely a lot of my younger self in this record, but that’s what makes it special. It captures a period of learning by doing and the beginning of me taking a more hands-on approach to the entire creative process.
Keep It Human
Keep It Human was a collaboration with longtime collaborator, Wrathmatics, released in 2014. The project came together around a collection of his sample-heavy, soulful production, with me writing/recording and Wrathmatics handling the production, mixing, and mastering. It was my first full-length project and a really important early collaboration for me as a writer and future producer.
